Accomplishments
Since the Uplands/Vikes Golf relationship began in 2000, Vikes Golf have won 5 National Championships and have produced notable individual champions such as our very own Uplands member, Megan Woodland. Recently in 2023, the Vikes Men's team won the 2023 Canadian University Golf Championship at Fire Rock GC in Komoka, Ont. In addition, over 12 Club Champions have been represented on the Vikes Golf teams since 2000, including past Uplands Golf Club champions: Megan Woodland (Ladies CC), Brian Sluggett (Men’s CC), Matthew Broughton (Men's CC) and Michael Griffin (Jr. CC) and Maguire Lines (Jr. CC). Most recently, one of our third year men's athletes, Owen Croft, was named University of Victoria Vikes Male Athlete of the Year for the 2023/24 season. Owen is an Intermediate member at Uplands Golf Club.
The Vikes Men’s and Women’s Golf teams consistently rank within the top 30 out of 150 institutions among the NAIA. It is safe to say a lot of their success can be attributed to the generosity of Uplands and their membership in allowing the Vikes Golf student-athletes to practice and play at their facility during the school year. Fundraising and Its Impact on Vikes Golf
Uplands Golf Club annually hosts the Vikes' Golf Classic Tournament every August. With over 140 entrants, the Vikes' Golf Classic raises significant funds to help the Vikes Golf teams travel and compete in various tournaments down south within the NAIA. By competing in these events, it allows Vikes Golf student-athletes to play at the most competitive level in collegiate golf, while not only representing Canada, but also representing Uplands Golf Club in Victoria, B.C
